Overview
QR code clearance offers a faster and more convenient way to clear immigration at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints. Whether you are travelling alone or with others, you can generate an individual or group QR code for a smoother clearance process.
You must still bring along your passport for travel when using QR code clearance.
To generate a QR code, you need:
- A mobile phone with MyICA mobile app downloaded
- Your passport or Singpass (for Singapore Citizens (SCs), Permanent Residents (PRs), Long-Term Pass holders)
Eligibility
SCs, PRs, Long-Term Pass holders with a Foreign Identification Number (FIN) and foreign visitors can use a QR code for immigration clearance when arriving in or departing from Singapore via land checkpoints by car, motorcycle, lorry, or bus.
You cannot use a QR code if you are:
- Entering Singapore as a first-time foreign visitor
- Re-entering Singapore using a different passport from your last visit
If you are using a passport that has not been used for entry into Singapore before, you must present your passport for immigration clearance. You will be able to use a QR code for immigration clearance on your subsequent trips.
If you are using the automated immigration lanes, you must ensure your biometric identifiers have been enrolled with ICA or MOM. You can refer to Automated Lanes at the Passenger Halls for more information on biometrics clearance.
Procedure
Before Reaching the Checkpoint
Create a profile and generate an individual or group QR code using MyICA mobile app. You must present a valid passport to proceed through the checkpoint.
At the Checkpoint
Instead of presenting your passport, self-scan your generated QR code at the immigration lanes.

FAQ
The QR code can only be used for immigration clearance at Singapore land checkpoints via car, motorcycle, lorry, and bus.
You must still bring your passport when travelling overseas, as it remains the official travel document for identification during overseas travel. ICA may also occasionally require travellers to present their passports for verification purposes.
While QR code clearance brings convenience and reduces travelling time for travellers in vehicles, security is not compromised as ICA will still perform the necessary checks, including biometric verification after the QR code is scanned. If you accidentally scan a wrong QR code, the system or our officers will guide you on the next steps to complete your entry or departure. Do note that this may result in a longer processing time at the checkpoint.
The QR code can be generated and retrieved offline, so you can still use it for self-scanning at the immigration counters, even without mobile data.
For a smooth journey, generate your individual or group QR code before arriving at Singapore land checkpoints.
