FAQs
Please be informed that there are no provisions within the Singapore Constitution to allow for renunciation prior to the age of 21 for any Singapore citizen. Under Article 128 of Part X of the Singapore Constitution, a citizen of Singapore can only renounce his/her Singapore citizenship if he/she:
- Is aged 21 and above
- Is of sound mind
- Have acquired the citizenship of another country
As you have yet to attain 21 years of age, you are not eligible to renounce your Singapore citizenship at this time. Your application for renunciation should only be submitted once you meet the constitutional requirements.
Since 23 Nov 2023, renunciation applications must be submitted online. Walk-in visits are not available.
Please note that the Singapore government does not allow its adult citizens to hold dual citizenship. Thus, once you have attained the citizenship of another country, you are to renounce your Singapore citizenship as soon as possible.
