Overview
If you need to confirm your Singapore citizenship status, you may apply for an official digital letter using the application form. This letter is issued digitally only and does not include signatures, stamps or QR codes.
Eligibility
You can apply for this digital confirmation letter if you are a current or former NRIC/FIN holder, or if you hold a Singapore birth certificate.
Documents Required
You will need the following documents:
If you are applying for yourself
- Foreign Passport/Birth Certificate/Singapore Citizenship Certificate/Singapore Identity Card (IC)
If you are applying as a proxy
- A letter of authorisation
- Your IC
For children below 16, the application must be submitted by a parent or a representative appointed by the parents. Children aged 16 and above can submit the request themselves.
You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English).
ICA accepts:
- Translations provided by the embassy of the country/place that issued the document
- Translations produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country/place that issued the document
- Privately created translations attested by the embassy of the country/place that issued the document, or notarised by a notary public in Singapore or the country/place that issued the document
ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.

You can pay online using any of the following:
- Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card
- American Express (AMEX) credit card
- Internet Direct Debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB and Standard Chartered Bank Internet Banking accounts in Singapore)
- PayNow
Processing Time
ICA processes the application within 3 working days, if all required documents were submitted.
Digital Letter Issuance
Once you receive an email notification that your digital letter is ready, you can save the digital letter or print it out.
