On 7 October 2026, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint foiled an attempt to smuggle duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore via a Malaysia-registered car. ICA Search and Examination officers directed the vehicle for enhanced checks and uncovered more than 400 cartons and 30 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed within various modified compartments of the vehicle. The 37-year-old male Malaysian driver was arrested in connection with the case. The exhibits and suspect were referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
