The information on this page is a guide to apply for a passport in Singapore. If you are currently overseas, see application process for more information. 

Apply Online Eligibility

You must be a Singapore citizen to apply for a passport.

You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English), as well as copies of the documents for ICA to retain.

ICA accepts:

  • Translations provided by the embassy of the country that issued the document
  • Translations produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document
  • Privately created translations attested by the embassy of the country that issued the document, or notarised by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document.
  • ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.

    You will need the following documents to complete your passport application. (Please have them ready before you apply):

    • A passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months.

    Note: Your application will be delayed if your photograph does not meet our requirements. We will notify you via post/email if your photo is rejected.

    Procedure

    If you reside in Singapore, you can submit your application via the following modes


    Online

    Login to our e-Service  using your SingPass 2FA to complete the online application form.

    By post or deposit box

    Obtain a Singapore Passport Application Form.

    Post your completed application form to:

    Passport Unit
    Citizen Services Centre
    ICA Building
    10 Kallang Road, Level 2
    Singapore 208718

    Alternatively, drop it into one of the deposit boxes at levels 1, 2 or 3 or outside the ICA Building.

    Fees

    A S$70 fee is payable. If your passport is lost or damaged, you will need to pay the passport fee of S$70 and the following non-refundable penalty fees for a replacement passport:

    • S$50 for the first replacement
    • S$100 for subsequent replacements.

    For online applications, payment can be made using either:

    • Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card,
    • American Express (AMEX) credit card,
    • Internet direct debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank internet banking accounts in Singapore).

    For applications by post or deposit box, payment can be made using NETS or CashCard.

    Processing Time

    The processing time for a passport is about one week upon the receipt of the application. It may take longer during peak periods. Your application will be delayed if your photograph does not meet requirements.

    You will be notified of the outcome through a notification card by post or email.

    Passport Validity

    If you have a valid passport with a remaining validity of nine months or less when applying for a new passport, the remaining validity will be carried over to your new passport. In this case, your new passport will have a validity of five years, plus the remaining validity of your old passport (up to nine months).
