Statement on Clearance of Travellers for Land Border Reopening

On 1 April 2022, Singapore and Malaysia reopened our land borders for fully vaccinated travellers. As at 7am, over 11,000 travellers have cleared through the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints.

2.          At 11pm on 31 March 2022, ICA observed that travellers on foot were already queuing at Woodlands Checkpoint while queues of cars and motorcycles were observed at the entrance of both checkpoints.

3.          For the travellers on foot, ICA started to organise them ahead of time, according to their immigration status. This allowed them to clear immigration efficiently when they entered the Woodlands Checkpoint bus hall. They were also able to use the additional automated lanes at the bus hall.

4.          For cars and motorcycles, ICA officers on the ground were able to adjust the car and motorcycle zones flexibly, based on the real-time demand of each conveyance mode. Most of the travellers had their documents ready, and thus cleared immigration smoothly. Overall, immigration clearance was smooth and there were no queues by 1am.

5.          ICA would like to remind travellers to submit their SG Arrival Card and ensure that they have proof of vaccination before arriving at the checkpoints. Drivers of foreign-registered vehicles are also required to have a valid VEP, LTA approval email and Autopass card.

6.          ICA will continue to make necessary adjustments along the way to further improve the immigration process to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for travellers.
