30 Motorists Caught for Traffic Offences at Woodlands Checkpoint over Vesak Day Long Weekend

During the Vesak Day long weekend between 28 May and 1 June 2026, officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) conducted stepped-up traffic enforcement operations at Woodlands Checkpoint to detect and deter motorists who commit traffic offences, engage in queue cutting and display other dangerous road behaviour. A total of 30 motorists were caught during this period.

2.        The breakdown of the detections and enforcement actions is as follows:

  •  At departure, 30 motorists were detected committing traffic offences such as crossing double white lines, making illegal right turns, stopping in positions likely to cause danger, obstruction or undue inconvenience, as well as queue cutting.
    • 21 vehicles were directed to make a U-turn and re-queue.
    • 9 drivers of foreign-registered vehicles were subjected to entry ban into Singapore for offences including crossing double white lines, as well as queue cutting.
    • Out of these, 15 motorists were referred to the Traffic Police (TP) for further action.

3.        ICA takes a very serious stance against motorists who violate traffic laws or do not comply with our officers’ instructions at the checkpoints, and thus compromise the safety of other motorists. We will not hesitate to take firm actions against them.

4.        We seek travellers’ continued patience and understanding, and to cooperate with our officers, comply with traffic laws and maintain lane discipline when using the land checkpoints, to create a safer and more pleasant experience for all.
