Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirements to Enter Singapore
To reduce the risk of importing and transmitting yellow fever in Singapore, you must hold a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate if, within the 6 days before arriving in Singapore, you have done any of the following:
- Travelled to a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission (regardless of area, city, or region)
- Spent more than 12 hours in airport transit in a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission (regardless of area, city, or region)
These requirements apply to all travellers, including Singapore residents.
The International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and remains valid for the lifetime of the vaccinated person. For example, if you receive the vaccine on 1 January 2021, your vaccination certificate becomes valid from 11 January 2021 onwards.
Quarantine Requirements
If you do not hold a valid vaccination certificate, you are liable to be quarantined under the Infectious Diseases Act for 6 days from your date of departure from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. This covers the incubation period for yellow fever (i.e., 6 days).
These requirements apply to anyone without a valid vaccination certification, including:
- Individuals whose vaccination certificate has not yet become valid.
- Unvaccinated individuals, including infants and individuals with medical contraindications to yellow fever vaccination.
If your vaccination certificate is not yet valid when you arrive in Singapore, you must complete the full quarantine period. This requirement applies even if your certificate becomes valid during quarantine, as you may not have been fully protected against yellow fever while in an affected country and could have been infected during the incubation period.
You must serve your quarantine at a designated vector-free government facility. Non-residents who refuse quarantine will be denied entry into Singapore.
Visit the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) website for more information about yellow fever.
