Overview

The Automated Lanes uses biometric technology to provide efficient and secure immigration clearance at ICA checkpoints.

The use of Automated Lanes is free.


Eligibility

You may use the Automated Lanes if you hold an International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) compliant passport and you belong to one of the following categories:

Categories Prerequisites

Singapore citizens,
Singapore permanent residents or
Long-Term Pass card holders

  • Aged six and above[1]
  • Biometric identifiers (iris/facial/fingerprints) have been enrolled with ICA
Holders of a work pass (Work Permit,  S Pass, Employment Pass or Dependant's Pass)
  • Biometric identifiers (iris/facial/fingerprints) have been enrolled with MOM
Travellers who are registered under ICA's Frequent Traveller Programme (FTP).  

Travellers who are registered under ICA's Automated Clearance Initiative.

 
Visitor on departure
  • Biometric identifiers (iris/facial/fingerprints) have been enrolled during arrival immigration clearance

[1] For young Singapore citizens who wish to use the automated lanes but had collected your passport before turning six, you may enrol your biometrics at the manned immigration counters. Refer to the FAQ for more information.


Documents Required

You must have an ICAO-compliant passport that is valid for at least six months.


Procedure

Eligibility for ICA's Automated Clearance Initiative (ACI) is assessed during clearance at the immigration counters. Eligible travellers who have been notified by officers at immigration counters that you are enrolled for ACI, do not require any separate registration.

If you are an eligible traveller but are not notified of your eligibility to use automated lanes, you may apply in person at one of the following enrolment touchpoints, together with your ICAO-compliant passport that is valid for at least six months:

  • ICA Building
    10 Kallang Road, Level 4 (next to Lavender MRT station)
    Singapore 208718

    Operating hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.

    Enrolment for automated clearance facility at the ICA Building is strictly by e-Appointment.
  • Changi Airport Terminal 3
    Departure Immigration Hall, Level 2 (please click here for the map)
    (For passengers in the transit area only)

    Operating hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Woodlands Checkpoint
    Departure Bus Hall, Level 5

    Operating hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Tuas Checkpoint
    Departure Bus Duty Office, Level 1
    (For passengers departing to Malaysia by bus only)

    Operating hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Note:

  • Eligible travellers who wish to enrol for self-clearance facilities would need to present all three biometric identifiers (facial/iris/fingerprints) during the enrolment process.
  • You must have an ICAO-compliant passport to apply.
  • The parent or legal guardian of applicants who are aged under 18 must be present during enrolment. The original copy of the applicant’s birth certificate and the passport of the accompanying parent or legal guardian should also be provided for verification of identity. If the applicant is accompanied by a legal guardian, the original copy of the legal authorisation letter or court order must also be provided.

Approximately 10 minutes, excluding waiting time.

Note: Current fingerprint scanning technology cannot accurately read fingerprints that are faint, scarred or excessively wet or dry.


Advisory to Travellers

Note: With the implementation of iris and facial technologies at our checkpoints, travellers are reminded to remove sunglassess, caps, face masks or other head gear that would obstruct their facial and iris images when clearing immigration. They are also advised against wearing coloured or patterned contact lenses to avoid inconvenience during immigration clearance.
