Identity Card (IC) holders must re-register when they reach the age of 30 (before their 31st birthday) and again when they reach the age of 55 (before their 56th birthday), if they have not been issued with a replacement IC within the last 10 years.

You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English), as well as copies of the documents for ICA to retain.

ICA accepts:

  • Translations provided by the embassy of the country that issued the document
  • Translations produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document
  • Privately created translations attested by the embassy of the country that issued the document, or notarised by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document.
  • ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.

    To re-register using the e-Service, you will need to prepare digital images of the following documents, and bring the originals when you collect your IC:

    • Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
    • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable)
    • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
    • Your recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months. Please click here for photo guidelines.

    To re-register by post, you will need to provide photocopies of the following documents with your application, and bring the originals when you collect your IC:

    • Front and back of your current IC or 11B/Home Team National Service IC (full-time personnel)
    • Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
    • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable)
    • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
    • Your recent passport-sized, colour photograph taken within the last three months.

    If you are a permanent resident, you will also need to provide the following additional documents:

    • Entry and Re-Entry Permits
    • Current passport
    • Certificate of Identity (if any)
    • Malaysian IC (if applicable).
    Procedure

    If you need to re-register, we will send you a notification letter one month before your 30th/55th birthday.

    Online

    You can submit your application online and check its status using the e-Service. The processing time is three working days.

    By post (only applicable to 55-year-old IC re-registrants)

    You can send the completed application form, along with all required supporting documents, to:

    The processing time is two weeks upon receipt of your application form. You can also check the status of your application using the e-Service.

    Fees

    You will need to pay the following fees:

    • S$10 for Singapore citizens
    • S$50 for Singapore permanent residents.

    For online applications, payment can be made using:

    • Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card or,
    • American Express (AMEX) credit card or,
    • Internet Direct Debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank Internet Banking accounts in Singapore).

    For applications by post, payment can be made using NETS, NETS FlashPay or CashCard.

    Collection

    Tell us when you would like to collect your IC using e-Appointment.

    If you re-registered using the e-Service, a collection notice will be emailed to you in three working days upon successful processing. If you re-registered by post, a collection card will be sent to your registered residential address in two weeks from receipt of your application form.

    You must bring the supporting documents listed in the collection notice/card. Your identity will be authenticated via biometrics at the collection counters.

    Selected Post Offices

    You are not eligible to use this service if you:

    • Have a 11B/Home Team National Service IC (full-time personnel)
    • Have lost or damaged your current IC
    • Have fingerprints that are faint, scarred or excessively dry or wet
    • Do not have two sets of fingerprints enrolled in ICA’s database.

    Self-Service at iCollect

    iCollect is a self-service machine housed in the eLobby on the ground floor of the ICA Building. Collection has to be done in person.

    You are not eligible to use this service if you:

    • Are a 11B/Home Team National Service IC (full-time personnel) holder
    • Have lost or damaged your current IC
    • Have fingerprints that are faint, scarred or excessively dry or wet
    • Do not have two sets of fingerprints enrolled in ICA’s database

    You can collect your new IC in-person with the supporting documents listed in the collection notice at:

    Operating hours are 8.00 am to 4.30 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8.00 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays.

    Longer-than-average waiting times are to be expected on the following peak times:

    • Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays
    • School holidays
    • The day before or after a public holiday.
