Biometric Identification of Motorbikers

Overview

The Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (BIKES) System uses biometric technology to provide efficient and secure automated immigration clearance for eligible and registered motorcyclists at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

The use of BIKES is automatically extended to the following categories of travellers as long as they hold a valid machine-readable passport that is both International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) compliant and has been updated with ICA or the Ministry of Manpower (MOM):

  • Singapore citizens aged six and above who have enrolled their fingerprints with ICA
  • Singapore permanent residents aged six and above who have enrolled their fingerprints with ICA
  • Long-Term Pass card holders aged six and above who have enrolled their fingerprints with ICA
  • Holders of a work pass (that is, a Work Permit, S Pass, Employment Pass or Dependant’s Pass) who have enrolled their fingerprints with MOM.
  • Foreign visitors registered under ICA's Automated Clearance Initiative (ACI)

Eligibility

All travellers are eligible to apply to use BIKES at no cost.

Documents Required

If you are a Singapore citizen, Singapore permanent resident or Long-Term Pass card holder, you must produce:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months.

If you are a foreigner, you must produce:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months
  • A completed application form. Please click here to download a copy of the application form.

Note: Applicants are encouraged to download and complete the application form before visiting an enrolment centre.

Procedure

Eligibility for ICA's Automated Clearance Initiative (ACI) is assessed during clearance at the immigration counters. Eligible travellers who have been notified by officers at immigration counters that you are enrolled for ACI, do not require any separate registration.

If you have not registered your fingerprints with ICA or the MOM and wish to enrol with BIKES, please approach our counter officer when you are seeking immigration clearance at the motorcycle lane. You can apply through one of the two BIKES enrolment centres at:

  • Woodlands Checkpoint
  • Tuas Checkpoint.

Note:

  • Acceptance of applications for BIKES enrolment is subject to ICA’s discretion
  • Enrolment is free of charge and will be processed on the same day.

Processing Time

Approximately 10 minutes, excluding waiting time.
