Public Advisory on Scams Involving ICA

Since January 2026, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has been alerted to reports from members of the public regarding two distinct scam variants involving ICA.

2.        In the first variant, scammers impersonate ICA officers through phone or video calls. To appear legitimate, they may use the ICA crest as a profile picture, or wear attire resembling ICA’s uniforms during video calls. These are Government Officials Impersonation Scams (GOIS). ICA would like to emphasise that these calls are not from ICA.

3.        In the second variant, scammers impersonate family members, friends or acquaintances to falsely claim that the individual has been detained by ICA. To support these fraudulent claims, they may furnish forged documents bearing the ICA crest or fake signatures purportedly from ICA officers.

How to Verify Calls from ICA

4.        A Government official calling from ICA will never:

• Request for bank login details
• Request for fine/fee payments to ICA via bank transfer
• Request for payment to ICA to release persons allegedly detained by the authorities
• Request for installation of mobile applications from unofficial app stores
• Transfer calls to the Police

5.        Members of the public are advised not to transfer money to any unknown person(s) whose identities have not been verified.

6.        Those who require assistance or wish to verify if a call is from ICA may contact ICA via the  ICA Feedback Form or speak with our call agents at 6391 6100.

Report Scam Cases

7.        ICA takes a serious view of such scams as it undermines public trust in ICA.

8.        Members of the public who suspect that they have fallen victims to a scam should lodge a Police report immediately. Installing the ScamShield App can also help protect against scam calls and SMSes. For more information on scams, call the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 or visit https://www.scamshield.gov.sg.
