Reminder: Various Immigration and National Registration Services will be Temporarily Suspended
Important dates
Various e-services provided by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will be temporarily unavailable from 6pm, 21 July 2007 (Saturday). Counter services at the ICA Building and at enrolment centres for the Multiple Journey Pass, Malaysian Frequent Traveller Card, Immigration Automated Clearance System Card and Biometric Identification for Motorbikers System located at the Tuas Checkpoint, Woodlands Checkpoint and Changi Airport Terminal 2 will also be closed from 23 July 2007 (Monday). However, the immigration checks and procedures at all checkpoints will continue as normal. The full list of affected services is available at ICA’s website at http://www.ica.gov.sg .
2. All services will resume at 8am on 27 July 2007 (Friday).
Public advisory
3. The public is advised to submit any applications for immigration and national registration-related facilities early, well before 20 July 2007 (Friday) to avoid the last minute rush.
4. As ICA will not be able to accept and/or process new applications during the dates of closure, processing time for applications may take longer after full services resume, due to a backlog in applications. We would like to seek the public’s understanding on this.
Brief recap:
Why is there a need to suspend services?
5. ICA will be carrying out an upgrade of its entire national database, which involves full data migration from the current system to the new one. To protect the integrity and completeness of our data during the data migration, ICA’s database will need to be shut down. During this period, ICA will not be able to accept and/or process new applications.
Why is there a need to upgrade our system?
6. The system upgrade is necessary to meet ICA’s current and future needs, as the current system has become increasingly difficult and costly to maintain, due to technology advancements over the years.
