The traffic diversion scheme at Woodlands Centre Road was piloted as a trial by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Traffic Police (TP) and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) from 15 September 2008 to 31 January 2009.
2 Following the trial, traffic flow along Woodlands Centre Road has improved and there have also been fewer complaints of noise pollution. Both the residents and business community have given positive feedback and indicated their preference for the scheme to be made permanent. In view of the positive feedback, LTA, TP and ICA have decided to make the traffic diversion scheme at Woodlands Centre Road permanent with effect from 1 February 2009.
2 There will be no changes to the current traffic arrangements. During the restricted hours, motorists wanting to enter the Woodlands Checkpoint from Woodlands Centre Road will not be allowed to turn into Woodlands Crossing. Instead, they should proceed straight into Old Woodlands Road or to Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE); as these roads will serve as alternative routes during the stipulated hours. The restricted hours for the various types of vehicles are summarised below:
3 Motorists are reminded to follow the traffic signs that are displayed at Woodlands Centre Road and along roads leading to the Woodlands Checkpoint. Auxiliary Police officers will continue to be deployed at the traffic junctions and along these roads to guide motorists during the affected periods.
