Public Advisory
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is currently experiencing an overcrowding situation at its Passport Section due to overwhelming demand for ICA passport services. As a result, a decision was made to stop accepting walk-in customers for passport services at 3.40pm today.
2. The ICA has issued more than 3,600 queue tickets for passport services as of 3.30pm. This is 125% more than the usual capacity of 1,600 customers a day. As the crowd on the passport collection office built up to more than 1,000 in the waiting area, we have to stop accepting walk-in customers. This move is necessary to prevent overcrowding at the ICA premises for the safety and welfare of our customers.
3. The ICA would like to inform all Singaporeans that passport collection tomorrow (Saturday) is strictly by appointment only. We regret that we will not accept walk-in customers. Singaporeans are encouraged to make an appointment through the e-Appointment system via the ICA website (www.ica.gov.sg) before coming to collect their passport.
4. As we are anticipating high demand for passport services, passport application over the counters at ICA Building will be suspended for one week from 13 March 2010 (Saturday). Singaporeans are advised to make use of alternative modes of application for passport, such as online via APPLES (Application for Passport On-Line Electronic System); the drop box located outside the ICA Building; or by post.
5. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and seek your kind understanding as your safety is our utmost priority.
