Over 11,000 Units Of Sexual Enhancement Drugs Seized

On 9 October 2017 at about 2.15pm, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers conducted checks on a 40-footer container at a warehouse in Gul Way. The container was presented for clearance at the Tanjong Pagar Scanning Station and was sealed for checks at the premises of the freight forwarder.

2.     During the course of checks, ICA officers noticed there were four crates, declared as “plastic household wares and wooden toys”. Upon opening one of the crates, the officers found sexual enhancement drugs and immediately examined the remaining crates. More sexual enhancement drugs were found. A total of about 11,033 units of sexual enhancement drugs with an estimated street value of $178,000 was detected. The drugs were handed over to the Health Sciences Authority for investigations.

3.      Our borders are our first line of defence in safeguarding Singapore's security. The security checks are critical to our nation’s security. The ICA will continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles at the checkpoints to prevent attempts to smuggle in undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives and other contrabands.  The same methods of concealment used by contraband smugglers may be used by terrorists to smuggle arms and explosives to carry out attacks in Singapore.
