ICA’s Response to Alarm Trigger at Woodlands Checkpoint on 14 August 2014

An alarm was triggered at Woodlands Checkpoint at about 8.30pm on 14 August 2014. As part of our security protocol, the checkpoint was locked down while our officers investigated the cause of the alarm. It was established that there was no incident and the trigger was due to a technical fault in the alarm system. The checkpoint resumed operations about 40 minutes later.

2.     We seek the understanding and cooperation from travellers as we need to conduct thorough investigations into the cause of the alarm and mitigate the incident quickly. During the lock down, operations would be ceased temporarily, where appropriate, to ensure that our investigations are carried out smoothly in a non-disruptive manner, without compromising public safety and security.

3.     The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) apologises for the inconvenience caused and will do our best to minimise any unnecessary disruptions to travellers.
