Travellers Reminded To Comply With Our Laws

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) would like to refer to the online postings and media reports about an incident at Changi Airport on 14 October 2015 involving netizen "P J Wong" and ICA officers.

2.         Our checkpoints are our first line of defence and security checks are critical to safeguard Singapore’s security. ICA officers are empowered by law to conduct travel document and baggage checks on all travellers.  Additional checks and/or interviews may be conducted, when necessary. Photography and videography at certain areas within the checkpoints are not permitted, and there are clear signage to advise travellers accordingly.

3.         The vast majority of travellers understand and support these security requirements. For travellers who refuse to comply with the security checks, ICA will not hesitate to take firm action against them, in accordance with the law.

4.        ICA would like to remind all travellers to comply with the instructions of our checkpoint officers when using the checkpoints. Together, we can keep Singapore safe and secure.
