Health Declaration Cards and Temperature Taking at Land Checkpoints

From 7 May 2003, all incoming social visitors* at the land checkpoints will be required to fill in Health Declaration Cards (HDCs). This is to help the authorities to contact them quickly, should the need arise. ICA will also be conducting temperature checks on travellers arriving or departing by car, van, lorry or motorcycle.

2 The new measures are part of a set of comprehensive precautionary measures put in place to detect and isolate any suspected SARS cases at our borders. The measures will reinforce the temperature checks, conducted with the use of the thermal imagers, which have been in place for both arriving and departing bus and foot travellers, since 23 Apr 2003. These additional measures are imposed so that SARS is not inadvertently "exported" to other countries or "imported" into Singapore.

3 ICA will continue to maintain its vigilance at the checkpoints to help contain the SARS problem. Travellers who show signs of the SARS symptoms will be referred to the medical stations at the checkpoints for further medical checks. We advise all travellers to seek medical attention and not travel, if they are feeling unwell.

* The requirement to submit HDCs will apply to all social visitors coming into Singapore by train, bus, car, van, lorry or motorcycle, or on foot.
