Response To Media Queries On Singapore Residents Returning From US And UK

From 25 March 2020, 2359 hrs, Singapore residents returning from US and UK are required to serve their 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) at dedicated facilities (e.g. hotels) to reduce the risk of potential transmission to their family members.

2       On arrival in Singapore, all US/UK returnees would be ushered into a Gate-Hold-Room where Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers will issue each of them with SHNs, explain its requirements and the need to serve their SHN at a designated hotel. Thereafter, returnees would be escorted to complete their immigration clearance. Transport would then be arranged to bring them to their designated hotel.

3        If these returnees are already found to be febrile or symptomatic at the airport, they would be immediately referred to health screening stations for medical assessment.

4        For US/UK returnees who transit via another country to return to Singapore, there are clear signages at the immigration halls to inform them that they are required to come forward to identify themselves, to be housed at designated hotels to serve their SHN. This requirement for returning residents from US/UK to serve their SHN at dedicated facilities has been well publicised. The onus is on them to declare their travel history.

5        ICA would like to remind all travellers returning to Singapore to submit their health declaration via the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) e-Service at ICA’s website (https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard). The SGAC mobile application can also be downloaded from Apple AppStore and Google Play. Travellers who have not submitted their health declaration electronically before arriving in Singapore will be required to do so upon arrival at the checkpoint, which could delay their immigration clearance.

6        The various agencies involved in this initiative for US/UK returnees will continue to refine and improve processes on the ground.
