Visitors who are in Singapore as a tourist for social purposes or seeking medical treatment, and require a longer period of stay beyond the Visit Pass granted on entry into Singapore, may submit an application for extension of stay (not more than 89 days from date of entry) online using the e-Service.

All extension applications must be submitted online using the e-Service at least seven days prior to the expiry of the visit pass to avoid overstaying. Extension of visit will not be accepted over the counter.

Every visit pass issued to any person as a tourist or for the purpose of a social visit or medical treatment shall be subjected to the condition that the holder shall not engage in any form of employment (paid or unpaid) or in any business, profession or occupation in Singapore during the validity of that pass unless he is a holder of a valid work pass issued under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act (Cap. 91A).

Apply Online Eligibility

To submit an application online using the e-Service, you are required to fulfil all of the following conditions: 

  • You wish to extend your stay for not more than 89 days from the date of entry
  • Your current Visit Pass has not expired
  • You will require a local sponsor* if you are seeking an extension of 89 days from the date of entry or if you are a National of the countries below:
Afghanistan
Algeria
Bangladesh
Egypt
Iran
Iraq
Jordan
Kosovo
Lebanon
Libya
Mali
Morocco
Nigeria
Pakistan
Saudi Arabia
Somalia
Sudan
Syria
Tunisia
Yemen
Holders of Palestinian Authority Passport
Temporary Passport issued by the United Arab Emirates
Refugee Travel Document issued by Middle-East countries
*The local sponsor must be either a Singapore citizen (SC) or a Singapore permanent resident (PR) who is at least 21 years old with a SingPass account. If he/she does not have a SingPass account, please apply for one using www.singpass.gov.sg.

Note: A physical endorsement is not required for approved application submitted using the e-Service.

Documents Required

You will need to provide original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English), as well as copies of the documents for ICA to retain.

ICA accepts:

  • Translations provided by the embassy of the country that issued the document
  • Translations produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document
  • Privately created translations attested by the embassy of the country that issued the document, or notarised by a notary public in Singapore or the country that issued the document.

ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.

For submission of online applications using the e-Service

You will need to have the following ready:  

  • Your travel document (e.g. passport) with at least 6 months validity. A copy of the travel document’s personal particulars page must be submitted to ICA
  • Your Disembarkation/Embarkation (D/E) card with a valid Visit Pass granted on entry into Singapore
  • Original supporting documentary evidence to establish relationship will be required if you are a foreigner with family ties where your immediate family members are Singapore citizens or permanent residents 
  • A Visa credit card, a MasterCard credit or debit card or a valid Internet Banking account in Singapore with DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank, for payment (if applicable)
  • Form V75, duly endorsed by a registered doctor in Singapore, stating the details of the illness and the period of stay required if you are seeking extension of stay for medical treatment)
Procedure
  • All extension applications must be submitted online using the e-Service
  • If you are unable to submit an Extension of Short Term Visit Pass application online, please email ICA_Visit_Pass@ica.gov.sg to request for further assistance
  • A security deposit may be required from your local sponsor. If a security deposit is required, your local sponsor will be advised accordingly on the amount and the method of payment required
Fees

Upon approval, you will need to pay the following fees:  

  • S$40 per extension

An extension fee of S$40 is applicable when the current valid pass accumulates to a period of 3 months or more from the date of entry/ issuance of pass. This fee is chargeable for every subsequent extension of stay accumulating to 3 months or more. 

  • S$30 per visa (foreigners requiring a visa)

A visa fee of S$30 is applicable if the applicant has resided in Singapore beyond the visa-free period. 

Payment can be made using:

  • Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card or,
  • American Express (AMEX) credit card or,
  • Internet Direct Debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank Internet Banking accounts in Singapore) or,
  • PayNow.

For applications in person, payment can be made using NETS or CashCard.
