Overview

The BIKES (Biometric Identification of Motorbikers) System is an immigration clearance system that uses biometric technology to automate the immigration clearance at designated lanes for pre-registered motorcyclists at Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoint.

Using BIKES

BIKES for single rider only BIKES for both single rider and rider with pillion
1 Insert Passport Using Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (BIKES) Step 1
Rider inserts passport into the passport reader.
Using Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (BIKES) Step 2
For single rider
Rider inserts passport into the passport reader (Green meant for rider).

For rider with pillion
1) Rider inserts passport into the passport reader (Green meant for rider); follow by
2) Pillion inserts passport into the passport reader (Yellow meant for pillion rider).
2 Slot Autopass / Cashcard Using Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (BIKES) Step 3
When the barrier opens, rider enters the clearance bay and slots the AutoPass / Cashcard into the card reader.

For both single rider and rider with pillion
When the barrier opens, the rider enters the clearance bay and slots the AutoPass / Cashcard into the card reader.
3 Place Finger on Scanner Using Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (BIKES) Step 5
Rider places enrolled finger on the fingerprint scanner. The exit barrier opens when the fingerprint verification is successful.

For single rider
Rider places enrolled finger on the fingerprint scanner. The exit barrier opens when the fingerprint verification is successful.

For rider with pillion
1) Rider places enrolled finger on the fingerprint scanner (Green meant for rider); and
2) Pillion places enrolled finger on the fingerprint scanner (Yellow meant for pillion rider).
Exit barrier opens when both the fingerprint verifications for rider and pillion are successful.


Operating Hours for BIKES Lanes


Woodlands Checkpoint:
24 hours every day

Tuas Checkpoint:
Arrival Motorcycle – Monday to Sunday: 4.30 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.
Departure Motorcycle – Monday to Saturday: 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.
Sunday: 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Note: Operating hours for BIKES lanes are subject to change without prior notice.

Eligibility

The following categories of travellers are eligible to use BIKES without the need to come to BIKES Enrolment Centres, as long as they hold valid International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)-compliant machine readable passports which have been updated with ICA or Ministry of Manpower (MOM):

  • Singapore Citizens whose fingerprints have been registered with ICA during application for the Singapore biometric passport;
  • Singapore Permanent Residents whose fingerprints have been registered with ICA;
  • Long Term Pass holders whose fingerprints have been registered with ICA; and
  • Work pass holders (i.e. Work Permit, S-Pass, Employment Pass and Dependent Pass) who have registered their fingerprints with MOM.

Enrolment

Eligible travellers who have yet to register their fingerprints with ICA/MOM and wish to enrol with BIKES can apply through one of the two BIKES Enrolment Centres:


Woodlands Enrolment Centre - Woodlands Checkpoint
Blk E after Departure Car ST office
Operating Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8.30 am – 5.00 pm
Saturday: 8.30 am - 1.00 pm
Tuas Enrolment Centre - Tuas Checkpoint
Departure D3 ST office
Operating Hours:
Monday to Saturday: 8.30 am – 2.30 pm, 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm and 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm

Note:

(a)  Operating hours for Enrolment Centres are subject to change without prior notice.

(b)  Applicants must have good fingerprints in order to apply for enrolment.  The application cannot be processed if the fingerprints are faint, scarred or excessively dry/wet.

(c)  All applications for BIKES enrolment are subject to ICA's discretion in acceptance.

(d)  Enrolment is free of charge and will be processed on the same day. 

Validity for BIKES

Singaporean Same as passport expiry date.
Singapore Permanent Resident Same as passport expiry date or REP expiry date, whichever is earlier.
Others Same as passport expiry date or Pass expiry date, whichever is earlier.
